Our Mission, Vision & Core Values
Our Mission: Teach, Demonstrate, Replicate
These three words express the heart of our faith and the heart of what we understand ourselves to be about as a church. As Jesus taught his followers the values and ways of His Kingdom (foundations), demonstrating them within a meaningful relationship (formation) with His followers, He called them to replicate His values and ways in our world (functioning). In this way, we want to fulfill the great commission Jesus gave us (Matthew 28:19-20), namely to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Our Vision: To Meet People at Crossroads
As a community, we are called to meet people at the crossroads of life, places of challenge and change, and to love them as Christ loves them. We as disciples of Jesus must meet those around us with the love of God. We must demonstrate radical inclusivity, extravagant generosity, mutual interdependence, kingdom mindedness, a commitment to peacemaking and reconciliation,
Our Core Values:
To meet people at crossroads demands transformational values. So, "fixing our eyes on Jesus" (Hebrews 12:2), we have 6 core values that we seek to fulfill in all that we do as People of God with a mission and vision.
Radical Inclusivity: Jesus included everyone, so we will do the same. There is no "ins" or "outs" with Jesus. We will begin to see anyone as someone Jesus wants to love through us (Deut. 1:17; Job 34:19; Acts 10:34; Rom. 2:11; Gal. 2:6)
Extravagant Generosity: Jesus gave His all, so He could change us all - to give as He did. To live like Jesus means we will give of ourselves, our time, our talents, and our treasure in everything we do and have.
Mutual Interdependence: Jesus put us together to do life together. We need each other's gifts, each other's love, support, encouragement, and prayers. When we love and serve one another this way, Jesus dwells in our midst and everyone fits in.
Kingdom Mindset: Jesus gave us a new way of thinking that will help us live like Him. It's a way of thinking that says every person is worthy of love. It's a way of thinking that holds the things of this world loosely. It's a way of thinking that calls us to rightly respond to our God-given responsibilities.
Commitment to Peacemaking & Reconciliation: We are committed to building a “culture of peace” that reflects God’s peace and the power of the gospel of Christ in our lives. As we stand in the light of the cross, we realize that bitterness, unforgiveness, and broken relationships are not appropriate for the people whom God has reconciled to himself through the sacrifice of his only Son (Matt. 5:9; John 13:34-35; Eph. 4:29-32; Col. 3:12-14).
Creativity, Passion & Potential: Each one of us has a God-given potential, passion, and creativity to live like Jesus. We will pursue natural and spiritual talents, giftedness and creativity to build His Kingdom
Power of the Holy Spirit!
: to do the good work God has prepared in advance for us to do, and to bear much fruit through the empowerment of the Spirit and wisdom of the Word. We have this potential, passion, and creativity because Jesus lives in us - and He wants us to build His Kingdom through us.
Protection of our Children
Children are a blessing from God, and he calls the church to support parents in their responsibility to train children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Therefore, Wooded Hills Church should be a safe and blessed place for children, where they can grow, play, form friendships, and learn to experience and share the love of Christ.
